Biography

Frank is a native of Charlotte. His family also lived in Rock Hill and Raleigh during his youth. In 1969 after graduating from Sanderson High School in Raleigh, Frank attended Brevard Junior College before enlisting in the Air Force. While in the Air Force from 1971-1976, his duties were handling military pay matters and counseling retiring personnel about their retirement options. These duties were Frank’s first exposure to everyone’s need for adequate retirement planning. This has become a lifelong passion and focus in his work as a financial advisor.

Frank began his career in the financial services industry in 1978 with New York Life in Macon, GA, while also completing his college degree at Georgia College & State University. In 1981 he relocated to Charlotte with Mutual of New York (now AXA-MONY), and teamed up with his father, Frank Owen Jr., who had started a second career with the same company a few years before. From 1980-1988, they specialized in financial services for educators and began to build a broader focus as their client base grew. After his father’s death in 1989, Frank incorporated F.R. Owen & Associates in 1992.

Frank and his wife, Beth, attend Christ Covenant Church in Matthews. They have a son, Grayson, born in 1992. Frank also has a son, Toby, from his first marriage, and a granddaughter, Taylor, also born in 1992. Frank enjoys golf, spending time with his family, and staying up to date on current politics.
